Suck life, suck thumb
Written at Saturday, December 26, 2015 | back to top

My module exam schedule like f* shit.. all cramp tgt i know nus want us die wtf.. every sem thinking what do take. Then what i feel like taking, crash with exam or timetable schedule. No nus mod is easy but the exam schedule like f* crap. Can't they plan better.

Because i know i was f stupid not to su a mod C+ last sem resulting my CAPS to be 0.11 lesser. Walau why like so much. I nv really know there is CAPS calculator online at all until my fren told me.. i always look at the worst side if i will have a C grade mod that i will need the su so much and if i use finish it, i will cry. My fren su on B which i feel stupid about it but i am more stupid. So i kept my su option till now(never use at all) that I can su 3 mod, and i only left with 3 other year 2 mod to su. I feel so frustrated.. What i regretted the most in 2015. Suck 2015.. just go go.. Continue with life. End of my complain. I still feel f* sad.

Life note to people out there, don't look down on yourself, if you get C or C+ just dare to use the SU the module, since there is so much modules can't be su because they are either year 3/4 module or they have prerequiste to it.

My grade did improve as compare to my year 1 result, I am happy about that. I just regretted MA1505 of getting C+ and i did not su at all.

I will be reviewing my modules slowly I have taken since sem 1 to sem 3, but my result kinda bad so I wish not to review.

Sem 1 - 16MCs
PC1431- Compulsory module for all engineering students

Physics module which I only like the thermodynamic part but is just a small part.
Workload is heavier depended on the test and exam so if test and exam will to scored well, you will get at least B+ and above. Most Lecturers will have to teach the class fast so you will have to stay awake to listen to keep note what the lecturer is talking. Most PC1431 have no webcast because due to the attendance reason that they want to maintain so they did not put any webcast. My lecturer, Dr Tan Meng Chwan, make the classes rather not that boring during some of the extra time he have, he will tell lame jokes. Exam are extremely hard and i have brain blocked during exam and score badly in Exam (which i know it). Content was really heavy as there is many things to study as a poly student I also find it hard to cope. My Tutor, Mr Lim Yen Kheng have good clear tutorial solution. Mastering physics assignment every week and try to get as much as mark as you can!! Taking PC1221 can help a lot i guess because is a foundation on stuff you don't learn in poly like rotational kinematics, conservation of angular momentum and etc. I think badly in the PC1431 because I skip PC1221 module but since I have su-ed PC1431, didn't affect my CAPS overall.

MA1301- A bridging module for poly students

There is a mid-term test that you are able to have one help sheet and exam is 2 help sheets. Every week tutorial will be going through question and you will have to present one tutorial question in one of the 10 tutorial lessons, which a 5% marks toward the overall result. Lecturer is Ji Feng, at first you will find his pace quite fast but after that you will be use to it. The exam question, i have never see the style before so i find it quite hard to do. Contest are on series and sequence, differential, integration, vector and complex number.

PC1222- A bridging module for without A level

Dr Kenneth was my lecturer. He rush most his lecture and skip some of the lecture note itself. He say that the note is extra informative so there is no much need to buy the textbook itself. There is also mastering physics to be done per week which I find it quite hard to answer some questions there. There is 2 mid-term tests which are MCQs and the first test will be harder than the second test due to the chapters that is harder in the first half of the semester. Dr Kenneth explained very well in the lecture. Ms Angeline was my tutor, I love her tutorial note which cover the detailed lecture summary and tutorial solutions which was benefit for me when I am studying during examination. She rushed in her tutorial lesson because of the limited time, I have difficulty in catching her pace.

SSA2219- SS module

So happy that I clear my SS module the first sem because I can su-ed it. If you want to scored well in this modules, it is important to get the project well, mean there is lots of research work to be done. In additional to the project, you have one presentation to be done in the tutorial class. Examination have a one compulsory essay question and 2 out of 5 essay questions to choose from so total question is 3. Lecturer is DR Rajesh Rai, and my tutor is PRISCILLA ANN VINCENT. They are very friendly. Every lecture DR Rajesh Rai will be teaching one topics and there is some videos related to indian culture or related stuff etc to watch during some of the lecture.

Sem 2- 18MCs
PC1432- Compulsory module for bioengineering students

I totally feel like giving up when I study this module due to integration part that is needed to solve magnetism questions. And my mid-term got 3/15, the lowest in my cohort, luckily my overall result was quite good (never get a C, I am happy enough). I remember during my PC1432 mid-term test at 7pm to 8pm, I was too worry about it because I have a MA1505 mid-term test later at 8.30pm to 9.30pm so I got a bit distracted and stress out and got that low for the test. After I know my mid-term result, I cry so much, thinking I should give up, and repeat the module again. However, I still think my concept is not strong as I don't understand how the integration work in physics so even repeating that module won't help if I don't understand. After my mid-term, i went to ask for my tutor Raditya Weda Bomantara for help in my mid-term and discussing all the question in there. I am glad he was happily to help me like before the exam, i went to ask him some of the past year exam questions too as I want to know the steps in doing some of those typical question. My exam was partially different from what I study on the past year exam, I understand better and do what I can in my exam. My lecturers were Lim Hock Siah, TAN, Meng-Chwan
and Nidhi Sharma (her ascent was really bad, I can't really understand what she was talking most of the time).

EG1109- Compulsory module for bioengineering students

One of my favourite modules because I love mechanics! We will learn about solving those standard mechanics questions, the new stuff that I found the most interesting would be truss bridges problem, because after I attend this course, then i found out not all element in the truss bridge carrying loads which those experience 0 force which I found it quite interesting. The assessment is based on a group project on truss bridges, a presentation of one assigned tutorial question, mid term test and final exam. Need to do questions from Maple TA to score some extra marks.

MA1505- Compulsory module for all engineering students

Almost my worst modules of all especially I hate the last 2 chapters which is line integral and surface intergral. The question are quite hard to understand, during my exam, the question was completely different from what I was expecting so my grade was quite bad for this module. Understanding is key of scoring well this module, I memorise and wrote question on my cheat sheet which it didn't help me much during exam.

BN2103-
Core module for bioengineering students

The learning of solidwork process start here! No exam but there is a test which consists of 2 parts about the safety issues and related topics that you will have to memorize to do well in this section and the another section is about the solidwork skills you learn during lessons. Assignment as given of a solidwork into a prototype and drilling part those.

BN2201-
Core module for bioengineering students

Anatomy modules learning about function and regulation of circulation, gastrointestinal, neuroscience and respiratory and etc (I cannot remember what I do). The topics that will be related to biotransport systems, bioenergy systems and biocontrol systems. 2 group labs, there are tests for each prof which include ivle test also and final exam. Calculation part must memories those formula you see in the lecture note because some do come out in exam.

ES1102- Students who got grade 2 for QET

Improve my English greatly thanks to this modules, I learn all the basic on constructing sentences, knowing the steps on writing a good essay. I remember I was late for this module, so didn’t have time to finish off the conclusion. Peer review/tutor review on my essay to improve my structure of my essay too. I was able to learn more when I review on other people essay.

Sem 3- 20MCs
LSM1401- Core module for bioengineering students

A module that all the chemical engineering is taking and their chem/bio foundation is really good. So the bell curve is really steep. My foundation suck and I think I would get better on the grade, but the bell curve god was not with me. There is 4 lab quizzes that you have to watch the video on it, and online quiz which the question can be quite tough and demanding. My lecturer is J Sivaraman, he is good in answering questions you don't know when you ask.

MA1506- Compulsory module for all engineering students

I was ultimate lucky to take Math on my sem 3 because due to there is 4 hours lecture in total on sem 2 better than having 3 hours for sem 1 and the lecturer is Assoc Prof Chew Tuan Seng, he is okay i guess in term of his speed, I find the content easier as compared to MA1506, do scored well in matrix chapter, just hope the exam questions he set will be easy for that chapter, do the past year exam they provided! Mid term test on the first chapte, while exam test on chapt 2 to chapt 8. For my batch, my exam stands different marks for differents question, not like previous sem all are 5 marks, so like the question you know may only have 3 marks, those hard one is 8 marks which I leave it completely blank due to time constraint.

GEK1549- Compulsory English module to take for all engineering students

3 assignment component. The first assignment is having inductive and deductive argument on an given essay. You will have to do a summary on the writer claim and evaluate giving reasons on supporting it or not. The second assignment is a group project about energy essay, solving an energy issue. The third assignment is
throughout your participation in the class.

BN3201- Core module for bioengineering students

It is a continual of EG1109 just that it is now apply to our body part, exam consists of question explaining of the body part (spinal cord) which I didn't study about it, so i leave a blank there which 10marks completely gone. I love this modules, due to the solving of moment and force in a body systems.

BN2202-
Core module for bioengineering students

Dr Kim was a very patient prof who explained what you do not know clearly. He teaches 2nd half of semester which on flow of blood (applying question using Navier Stroke theorem and conservation of mass and momentum) and blood characteristics. Dr Yap teach somehow the same things but different approach. I have a better understanding during Dr Kim because his explanation was better and easier to understand.

So next sem the start of my designing module, at a part of my life, I really hate designing, I lack of ideas of thinking what a biomedical products can be improved of. During my poly time, Paul help me alot in designing stuff. And the coming semester, I am on my own, doing the solidwork once again. Did it last sem on BN2103 which is so-so experience. The thought of drawing in Solidwork is almost the same as NX5.0 when I use it in my poly. The bad thing about designing modules is that when you are stuck, you completely stuck.

Next sem biosignal i can just cry.. I remember in poly time, Paul and I stay up like 8pm at the lab figuring how the matlab thingy work and trying my best to improving it but failed to do it. In the end, that one of the lecturer complained why we still in the lab. Those biosignal memories suck!! OMG!!

Ps: Will update when I am free on some of the incomplete module review J
